Snorkel Guide

Snorkeling-a sport for everyone!

Freedom is almost limitless not only above the clouds, but also below the surface of the water.
We can recommend everyone to try snorkeling for themselves and experience the diversity of the underwater world up close.
With a minimum of equipment and knowledge, a full life with complex processes can already be observed in the flat shore zones of the Maldivian islands. Hundreds of colorful fish live in perfect neighborhood with one another. We always recommend wearing fins when snorkeling, as this creates a comfortable, horizontal swimming position on the surface without the legs “tilting down”.

We do not need the arms for locomotion and they should lie on the side of the body or, better, be crossed on the back. The movement comes from the hip with the knee slightly bent. Avoids ineffective “cycling” due to excessively bent knees. The fins should not be too tight, otherwise cramps can occur. The mask should fit well and be made of silicone, which adapts well to the shape of the face and forms a good finish on the skin. Avoid applying sunscreen to your face before snorkeling, it leads to a very unpleasant burning sensation in the eyes and constant water ingress into the mask because the edge does not seal well. Another simple but very effective trick for a complete perspective: rub some normal, gel-free toothpaste on the glass before snorkeling, let it dry a little and rinse well.

And you’re ready to go !!
We wish you a lot of fun and look forward to welcoming you on one of our snorkeling tours on board the MV Aisha!
